MY FINAL YEAR FILM
This is some work from the student film I worked on in my final year of college.
The story is about a girl who deletes her thesis the night before it's due. She then goes through 4 stages of stress: Denial, Anger, Depression and Acceptance.
Below is some of the artwork that I prepared for this film. As it was my idea, I was the Director, Art Director, and Editor. I worked primarily on the backgrounds, character design, editing the animatic to create the final product, and compositing.
The film went on to achieve the RTS Student Award 2020 for Best Animated Film, as well as the Emerging Director Award 2020 in the Animation category
Early Concepts
My earliest designs began in my sketchbook of the character, and as I brought it into a digital medium her design solidified into the character you see now.

Background Design
As the film is entirely set in one room, it was challenging to maintain absolute consistency in each shot, while also transitioning from each emotion through the colour of the room.
Compositing
The strong contrast in the light throughout the film required a serious amount of compositing to bring each element of the 2D process to a cohesive and comprehensive result. I used After Effects for the entirety of the comping stage of the film, as it allowed for fluid light movement throughout the film.
